Parents and Students,

Last night we announced the 2017 Stebbins High School Contest Show.  We are looking forward to a highly creative and entertaining show!  Check out the information below!

ENERGY: Empower the World

The show will be a high powered and extremely entertaining show about renewable energy in three acts.

ACT I: Wind

Music: "Winds of Change" by Randall Standridge

Visual: Huge white and modern wind turbines all over the field

ACT II: Sun

Music: "Lux Aurumque" (translates to light) by Eric Whitacre

Visual: Huge reflective solar panels all over the field

ACT III: Water

Music: Still looking for the perfect closer.  Should have something soon.

Visual: Lots of blue colors and drill imitating hydraulic turbines

Other Visual Concepts:

Another gigantic backdrop with images of renewable energy

Perhaps the backdrop changes with images of each Act

We will be using LED lights!

Instruments, uniforms, hats, and backdrops could "power up" and illuminate throughout the show.

Perhaps some items light up brightly during each movement and at the end everything is powered on.

LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER AMAZING SEASON!

Symphonic Band Trip to Washington DC

Parents and Students,
As mentioned earlier in the school year, symphonic band will be taking a trip to Washington DC this spring.  This trip occurs every two years and we are excited to offer this trip once again.  Symphonic Band has done extremely well at this competition, including earning various Superior Ratings and winning the entire contest in 2013.  We hope that the majority of symphonic band members will be able to attend.  I will be handing out a full itinerary in class on Wednesday.

Trip Information:
Every two years Symphonic Band travels to the Washington DC area and performs at a national competition.  The band also tours Washington DC the day after the contest.  Please see the planned itinerary handed out in class.

Trip Dates:
April 28th through April 29th 2017

Total Cost Per Person
$199.00

Number of Participants Needed:
53 Participants

Payments:
February 1st: $100.00
March 1st: $99.00

Additional Information:
This is an optional trip, but we are in need of the majority of symphonic band to attend in order to be able to perform.  If we do not have enough members that are able to attend, we will cancel the trip for this year.  Students may use Dayton Dragons money or any other funds from their Stebbins Music Booster Accounts to pay for the trip.  All students must have all marching band fees paid in full in order to attend. Any remaining seats that are available may be filled by concert band members.
